The World Is Flat - and small

If you look at my list of things I am reading, you will find the book The World is Flat on my list of things I want read. I have heard so many wonderful things about this book and can't wait to get into the reading. I was holding a discussion with one of my cohort members regarding instructional time and vocational programs and we began sharing ideas and literature. Something she said reminded me of a professional development I attended while working in Columbus with Battelle for Kids. I immediately got on the internet and attempted to look for the session at the Battelle site - didn't find what I was looking for, but found something much more interesting. Battelle has now started a Flat World initiative in the state of Ohio - their statement:

"We hope this tool helps educators, parents, students, business leaders and community members discuss the changing world and how we can work together to prepare students for a future they can only imagine. The future of our workforce and economy depends upon the quality of education we provide to our students today"

I am looking forward to reading this book and checking out what Battelle has to offer!
