This We Believe
I have reread the National Middle School Association's timeless publication This We Believe this past weekend. I recommend this book to anyone who works with or might potentially work with middle school students. NMSA first published this book in 1982 with several subsequent versions to follow. This We Believe really gets at the heart of the middle school students and learning how to teach and grow with the adolescent learner. People sometimes tell me that I am crazy working in middle school. My response? It takes one to know one. Not really. But I do explain to them the nature and importance of the adolescent learner and that people who love the age group should work with the age group. I follow that up with, people who don't like the age group shouldn't work with them because they can do more harm than good! This We Believe, and other NMSA publications, are all about that.
